Ooops - guess someone was a little nervous...

Our niece ZP is on a competitive cheerleading team, or maybe they call it a squad. Anywho, the girls have had a really good year and made it to Nationals in Orlando this past weekend.

So, I called my sister to see how everything was going.

When I spoke to her she sounded like she was in a train station or something (actually she was trying to get on a bus with 3,980 other cheerleading parents to get back to the hotel).

I asked how it went and was told, "Not so good."

Guess during the routine two of the girls were dropped and then during the finale the little girl on the top of the pyramid, or maybe it is a tower, got a little nervous and vomited on the rest of the girls on the bottom.

On a positive note, it had to of been a memorable performance one that the folks will remember for years... "Hey, remember that time we were in Orlando and that girl from somewhere up North puked all over everyone????"

Oh, no! That poor girl is destined to be known as The Puker for all her days. My heart goes out to her, since that would totally totally have been me.

You know, if I had been coordinated enough to make the squad in the first place.

Hiatus no more

I don't know what it is about January, but 'round about January 15th I go into a complete and utter funk - hence no blogging. It is as if I need to cocoon for a bit, metamorphosize, and re-enter the world in February. This year has been especially bad due to our chaotic schedules with the kids, plus I have been working almost 60 hours per week as it is budget time and we are determining what exactly does "hunkering down" look like. Don't worry, work is still fun, challenging might be a better word. I truly love my new job, actually it was a promotion - didn't officially know until this week, so that jump starts the old engine as well. Other than that I have also realized in the last week my body is really, really mad at me. Things are just not working as they should and finally made the decision to go see the doctor who helped with the torn ligament a few years ago. Bottom line, just haven't been taking care of myself and he cracked me around a bit so can ...

I am usually an open book...

however have made the decision to have The Schmidt House be invite only, you are the ones that I want to share our lives with - if there is someone that I have omitted by mistake, please let me know. Think that there are some family members that I do not have email addresses for, so will need to track those down. I have found that I have been a little blog "stuck" for the last few months knowing that there were a lot of people who read my site and I became a little self conscious about what I was writing as to not offend anyone - not like I go out of my way to offend, but after awhile you realize that there are some pretty sensitive folks out there. I know it takes all kinds for the world to go around, however I don't want to have to worry about it when I am here. So now I feel a little more free to speak my mind which you all know has never been a problem, but now I feel I am among friends. Thanks for sharing this little adventure with the Schmidts...

So today was one of those days when I was waiting for Dwight Schrute to walk in at any time and make popcorn

Yesterday was pretty blah at work considering everyone just got back from the holiday, there were the usual conversations, "So how was your Christmas?" blah, blah, blah. If yesterday was blah, then today was just odd. At one point I felt that I had entered an alternate universe and we had become Dunder Mifflin . You see, Thursday is popcorn day on the Garden Level. I guess the popcorn is there to help boost morale and raise a little ching for various charities. However, since today really felt like Tuesday, not Thursday, people just weren't in the mood for popcorn and the world went a little askew. It all started when someone complained that the popcorn smell was bothering them. I don't know why this day was different than any other Thursday, but today it bothered them. Maybe they were on the holiday hangover edge and it just tipped. So management was on the prowl for a new home for the popcorn machine. That is when I was approached and asked if it would be ok if t...
