Gainfully employed - Part 2

I have been contracting for four months and finally decided to apply for a "full-time" job now that things have been moving along - the home office has really stepped up and is quite the homemaker.

Before the holidays, my current supervisor spoke to me about a Project Manager position they had posted. He encouraged me to apply and after much thought I decided to throw my hat in the ring.

As with most large corporations it takes quite a bit of time to go through the interview process. I applied for the position at the beginning of January and had my interview on January 30th.

I must admit I was a bit rusty with my interviewing skills and was really struggling to remember specific events from my previous life. When I left CMG I pretty much purged everything - I didn't want to remember. Plus, a few of the interviewers were peers and I didn't feel it was appropriate to discuss the challenges I had experienced with another co-worker, so I started talking about my previous supervisory experience - quite a lot.

By the end of the two interviews I felt I had tanked them. Like I said I couldn't remember a lot of details except for staff details.

Little did I know the interview went much better than I thought.

The following day the head of our department wanted to speak with me and asked if I would consider applying for an Application Development Manager position on the IT leadership team.

Wow, guess I didn't tank it.

Long story short, I had an interview after I got back from Winnipeg on Thursday and they offered me the position on Friday.

I am going to accept the position tomorrow.

On a side note, I believe my new home will be the popcorn stench infused office from the popcorn debacle last month... Oh the irony.

YIPPPEEEE, SUSAN! I'm so excited for you! (and E's been on my back for the last week wondering if you got the job...I think he's stressed at work and wants me to go back...Apparently, you're his gauge for seeing if it's possible for me to succeed outside for Carlyworld).

Have you met my friend Jane?

I am a complete Jane Austen junkie, in fact I think that I need to maybe seek help. Shelly tells me I need help and we all know Shel tells it like it is, so it must be true. "Hello, my name is Susan and I love Jane. Jane Austen." I read "Pride and Prejudice", annually. Yes, every year I spend a weekend with Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Now that I think about it I may need to skip my little tradition this year because I have so many other never read books piled up and there is a due date looming from the library. The reason I share this closeted truth with you my friends is because there is a TV event starting this weekend on PBS. It is basically the 10 weeks of Jane, every Sunday night PBS will air a adaptation of Jane Austen's novels. Here is the schedule. So, if you have never had the opportunity to get to know Jane, maybe it is time. Think about it, there is no new TV, it's cold out and you can learn new some new sayings for Monday. Nothing ...

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...
