We've made it through the holidays...so far

This past week has been a blur. We have seen pretty much everyone in our family, plus extended family, and we have more family to see next week. It
is good to connect with everyone.

The kids got everything they wanted from Santa and family that they could have asked for. Joe got a Mario DS and Allie a Nano (but you guys already knew that). She is so excited. I realized about an hour after they opened their gifts that we purchased gifts which encourage no interaction with any other member of our family....was this really a good idea?

Yesterday I played tennis with my good friend Jody and another friend Sue. We did well and took 2nd, I can't say that my good foot is better for it. I seriously cannot walk. It is like when I tore the ligament last year. NO GOOD. I am hoping it will be better tomorrow, I've got too much to do.

Just saw this photo and it made me laugh, it was entitled, "Cows are Stupid". Karen - I am sure Monkey might laugh as much as JG.

Susan, WHERE DID YOU FIND THAT PIC??? I'm sure it's one of Kevin's friends [the cow owners, not the stupid cows]. IF we had that car as well, I would be worried that was our place.

I called the Monkey over, expecting a good laugh. This is what I got: "Who is Susan???"

Sigh.

Karen - that's pretty funny. Joe does the same thing when I tell him someone posted something. Completely forgets who anyone is.

Nance - thanks for the laugh, my neighbors are trying to get rid of one of those coupe cars, so if you want me to I can pick it up for you and we can try it out on your cows!

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...

Have you met my friend Jane?

I am a complete Jane Austen junkie, in fact I think that I need to maybe seek help. Shelly tells me I need help and we all know Shel tells it like it is, so it must be true. "Hello, my name is Susan and I love Jane. Jane Austen." I read "Pride and Prejudice", annually. Yes, every year I spend a weekend with Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Now that I think about it I may need to skip my little tradition this year because I have so many other never read books piled up and there is a due date looming from the library. The reason I share this closeted truth with you my friends is because there is a TV event starting this weekend on PBS. It is basically the 10 weeks of Jane, every Sunday night PBS will air a adaptation of Jane Austen's novels. Here is the schedule. So, if you have never had the opportunity to get to know Jane, maybe it is time. Think about it, there is no new TV, it's cold out and you can learn new some new sayings for Monday. Nothing ...
