Ok - enough is enough

I have been waking up at night feeling guilty because I am not blogging - good 'ol Catholic upbringing again. I am realizing that I am not documenting our life at the Schmidt house as the kids are getting older and I feel like the bad mom.

We have had a very busy summer (now that summer is actually here!) we went over to Chetek this past weekend to spend about 29 hours with our friends the Tordsens. Dan and Noel went to high school together and have seriously been friends since they were something like 5 years old. They used to do some pretty stupid things together and after this weekend it is good our children live far away from one another because it is very true that history repeats itself.

We went boating yesterday on Pokegama Lake and Rachel (Noel's wife) said she laughed so hard at JG her cheeks hurt. He was in rare form this weekend. Most of his conversations start a little something like this: "So, what do you think would win...a badger or a wolverine?" He is completely obsessed with animals and natural selection.

I am glad to be home and gearing up for a busy week - we head out Friday for another weekend at the lake - we go to Gull Lake with our neighbors and then will be with Dan's family for the remainder of the week. JG just wants to fish until "he can't stand up anymore."

Here are some photos from this weekend's adventures:

HI!!!! You, sister, have been MISSED! I love that JG is still making people laugh, even if it's not me. I love that you're out having some fun--I had pictured you slogging away at work all summer. I LOVE that you're blogging again, keep it up!!

Thank you for the kind note - have actually been slogging at work -- somehow seem to find the time to get out and about a bit - I have missed blogging and need to get back into the habit.

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...

Tightrope walking on a string

This has been one of "those" weeks where I often find myself scared to slow down and assess the situation because when I do I start to get this really tight feeling in my chest and I feel nauseous. Does anyone else get that? When life is going mach 10 with your hair on fire...and if you stop you just might fall right over from that string you are balancing everything on... I am going to bed.
