Basketball, basketball, basketball...

About a year ago I made the decision to visit and ultimately join our basketball association board, I know yet another thing that I sign up for thinking that I have enough time when in the end time is the one thing I am very short of...

Long story short - I ended up on the executive board and was asked to be in charge of registration - we have about 1,500 kids overall in the program and most make it through the process with no intervention from the registration coordinator = me.

Well, that was until today when I received since last night @ 12:48 a.m. - 117 emails thanks to the Senior High kids who evidently do NOT know what a registration end date is.

I am done now and don't want to be on the computer ANYMORE. The only redeeming factor that is keeping me going right now is that Cargill has this Care Points program where you are able to submit your volunteer hours for donations. I think that with the amount of time I have put in it will be something like $500.

So that is my little happy place, the fact that maybe seven kids who are in need will be able to get scholarships to play basketball because I volunteered my time.

Oh, gotta go email 118 just arrived.

Happy happy friends!

I read this IMMEDIATELY after discovering the so-important-you-have-to-sign-it-NOW paperwork the high schooler gave me this morning sitting on the counter.

I feel for you, Sus.

Yikes. After reading this I have no place to grumble about simply showing up for tournaments.

I love basketball season. Thanks to the many people like you who make it happen.. :)

so what rules your life more these days: hockey or basketball?

So, glad that you guys are able to relate - life is crazy. Little man is waning on the hockey thing a little this year, he started basketball too, so we will see. Either way it has become our way of life and I am so sure I will miss it terribly when they are grown.

Pleased as punch

We got our new vacuum cleaner last night. The home office was kind enough to pick one up along with our PF Chang's takeout. Take out Chinese on Valentine's is a tradition. Anyhoo, as you can see from the photo we basically sucked up an entire Pomeranian in our upstairs family room. I don't know if I should be embarrassed or pleased. I mean we just vacuumed on Monday with the Hoover and I knew it wasn't picking up everything, but this is ridiculous. The home office was so impressed with the Animal he went downstairs and vacuumed up another canine in the family room down there. I am still trying to figure out all of the gadgets on the machine. I seriously cannot figure out how to attach the stair cleaner. It is really funky how the thing is put together, efficient, but funky. I also for the life of me cannot figure out the directions. I dislike how all European companies, Dyson (UK), IKEA (Sweden) just show you pictures. I always thought I was a visual person, but I am b...

Wild world

This past week or so has been a blur - We went to Iowa for a tournament - girls did fine - think that they got 3rd overall. Will meet up with the teams again when we go to Kansas in March. Got home from Des Moines @ 6pm Sunday, was at the airport by 8am Monday. Off to Kansas City for a training class, actually am really excited to be selected for this, it is "High Performing Managers" and there are only 15 people per class. I about choked the first day when they said that the company is making an investment in us - $15K each. I think that is more than I spent on my entire college education - wow. Got home Thursday @ 10:30pm went to work Friday, and then had a busy weekend. By Monday thought I was seriously having an aneurysm - ALL last week felt like someone was trying to put a stake through the back of my head and really couldn't focus at all. Think that the plane ride back to MN did me in. So went to Dr. who scheduled a MRI for yesterday a.m. Really kinda scared me to t...

so thankful

The other night I had an exchange with Gigi that means the world to me, the last one when she knew who I was, so I just need to write it down, so I won't forget. Actually I don't think I will ever forget it, but wanted to share with Amy and my folks. Gigi: I am so tired, I just want to go home. Susan: Gram I wish you would be able to go and be in your own room in Aitkin. Gigi: I have a nice room. Susan: Yes you do it is so calm. Gigi: I want to see them. Susan: Who Gram? Gigi: Mother, dad, John. Susan: They are all waiting for you. Gigi: I know they are. I want to go. Susan: Margaret and Fran are there, so are Tom and Don (her siblings). Elsie, Esther and Sarah are there too (her dear friends). They are waiting. Gigi: Yes they are. Susan: Gram will you be there waiting for me someday? Gigi: Of course, you know I will be. Susan: And we will laugh. Gigi: Yes, we love to laugh. Susan: I love you. Gigi: Love you too. I am so tired.
