Many parents made a mental note, "No hanging out with that Schmidt kid."

JG is making his First Communion this weekend, we went a few weeks ago to the final class with his group where the kids were able to do a "test run" of the whole process. This is where the life with JG fun began...

Let me set the stage...

about a month ago JG came home and informed his parents that he can't wait to get to college, rationale was - you have lots of fun and drink beer. Where he got this I don't know, he has been hanging out with some of the older boys in the neighborhood - who knows.

So Dan asked, "How do you know that is what you want to do? How do you even know if you like beer?"

Dan had a beer and let JG smell to which little man said, "Not so bad." Then he put a little taste on his finger which resulted in major dramatics, imagine feigning choking, spitting repeatedly and stating, "That is the worst thing that I ever tasted in my whole life!" So we thought case closed, end of beer drinking dreams in college.

Fast forward two weeks to religion.

JG had to go up and during the test run was encouraged to taste the wine - once again major dramatics and an exclamation for the ENTIRE church to hear.

"Hey mom, that wine tastes worse than beer."

I wanted to crawl under the pew...

YES!

I'm sorry to say that I so hoped your story was heading in that direction.

My gut tells me that there will be many more times that our kids will send us straight under the pew.

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...

JG's Blog

JG has decided he wants his own blog. He wants to call it, JG Uses the Puter (computer). On his blog he will have Game Cube tips, Game Boy complaints, Pokemon stuff and updates on play dates with his friends. He also will have a special section for Speedy to tell how much he loves JG. Here is JG's first post: cgtuioweeejp 345776985214. I am four my birthday is March. Tomorrow I want to play hockey. I feated the Empire with 3PO and R2. Does anyone know how old R2 is? I think he is three and 3P0 is four like me. That's it. I want lunch.

Have you met my friend Jane?

I am a complete Jane Austen junkie, in fact I think that I need to maybe seek help. Shelly tells me I need help and we all know Shel tells it like it is, so it must be true. "Hello, my name is Susan and I love Jane. Jane Austen." I read "Pride and Prejudice", annually. Yes, every year I spend a weekend with Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Now that I think about it I may need to skip my little tradition this year because I have so many other never read books piled up and there is a due date looming from the library. The reason I share this closeted truth with you my friends is because there is a TV event starting this weekend on PBS. It is basically the 10 weeks of Jane, every Sunday night PBS will air a adaptation of Jane Austen's novels. Here is the schedule. So, if you have never had the opportunity to get to know Jane, maybe it is time. Think about it, there is no new TV, it's cold out and you can learn new some new sayings for Monday. Nothing ...
