32 hour flu

Yesterday morning we all awoke not feeling so hot. AE said she had a stomach ache, so did little man. So, I emailed work telling them I would be home with two sick kids.

Well, the two sick kids ended up being fine - AE went to school by 10:30. By 11:00 it wasn't a sick kid I was worried about, but a sick mom. I ended up with the flu. I went to bed, JG missed the bus (my fault), so I had to drop him at school ala ride back from Girls Weekend in Madison '97 style (Shel - you know what I am talking about). Not good.

I went into my infirmary at 12:45 yesterday and just left about an hour ago. No good. On the positive side - I lost 7 lbs, managed to watch a few hours of "The Tudors" and think I am completely caught up on my sleep.

Hey! LG's got something, too - He's down for the count today. He's been watching TV for 9 straight hours (he's in trouble in 15 minutes when Noggin goes off the air. Think I'll be able to get him to move off of my bedroom floor? Poor little booger).

On a good note: Dad and I bought him his hockey equipment, so we will not need JG's stuff. So much fun (and his auntie pointed out that he looks like a Storm Trooper - Should have bought the stuff the day before Halloween, not the day after).

Get well, my dear!

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...

I think he is three and 3P0 is four like me. That's it. I want lunch.

Have you met my friend Jane?

I am a complete Jane Austen junkie, in fact I think that I need to maybe seek help. Shelly tells me I need help and we all know Shel tells it like it is, so it must be true. "Hello, my name is Susan and I love Jane. Jane Austen." I read "Pride and Prejudice", annually. Yes, every year I spend a weekend with Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Now that I think about it I may need to skip my little tradition this year because I have so many other never read books piled up and there is a due date looming from the library. The reason I share this closeted truth with you my friends is because there is a TV event starting this weekend on PBS. It is basically the 10 weeks of Jane, every Sunday night PBS will air a adaptation of Jane Austen's novels. Here is the schedule. So, if you have never had the opportunity to get to know Jane, maybe it is time. Think about it, there is no new TV, it's cold out and you can learn new some new sayings for Monday. Nothing ...
