So I was home for 12 days and blogged just twice...

Is it fair to say we were too busy? The past almost two weeks have flown by, we Schmidts packed quite a bit into our time off. Tomorrow's alarm is going to ring a little sooner than I want and back to the daily grind. Here are some photos of Xmas morning and later in the day at Auntie Shirley's -

Little man and the two things he wanted for Xmas - a Wii and a SpongeBob toothbrush - go figure.

Our baby girl looking very grown up.
Gramma Sharon and her kids - can't believe we got everyone to look at the camera.
The kids at Shirley's - note the gifts - it took us only three hours to open the gifts this year - a record for us. The sad thing is we cut back this year.

Did you buy the Wii in October, on eBay, or did you just get lucky? (urgh! I went to Best Buy four times, and gave up after I showed up 15 minutes before opening one Sunday in early December and there were 30 cars there already, when the manager told me there were only 10 Wiis coming in).

Ahhh, the joys of the season!

See you Tuesday, my friend!

Santa got the Wii from one of Allie's friends dads, we paid a little extra, but was kinda worth not having to stand in line. Then as soon as I paid up I found 10 of them at Best Buy aarrrggghhh. I should have called you.

We are having fun with the Wii. I am consistently getting my butt kicked in tennis by a 5 year old. Sigh.

Hiatus no more

I don't know what it is about January, but 'round about January 15th I go into a complete and utter funk - hence no blogging. It is as if I need to cocoon for a bit, metamorphosize, and re-enter the world in February. This year has been especially bad due to our chaotic schedules with the kids, plus I have been working almost 60 hours per week as it is budget time and we are determining what exactly does "hunkering down" look like. Don't worry, work is still fun, challenging might be a better word. I truly love my new job, actually it was a promotion - didn't officially know until this week, so that jump starts the old engine as well. Other than that I have also realized in the last week my body is really, really mad at me. Things are just not working as they should and finally made the decision to go see the doctor who helped with the torn ligament a few years ago. Bottom line, just haven't been taking care of myself and he cracked me around a bit so can ...

I am usually an open book...

however have made the decision to have The Schmidt House be invite only, you are the ones that I want to share our lives with - if there is someone that I have omitted by mistake, please let me know. Think that there are some family members that I do not have email addresses for, so will need to track those down. I have found that I have been a little blog "stuck" for the last few months knowing that there were a lot of people who read my site and I became a little self conscious about what I was writing as to not offend anyone - not like I go out of my way to offend, but after awhile you realize that there are some pretty sensitive folks out there. I know it takes all kinds for the world to go around, however I don't want to have to worry about it when I am here. So now I feel a little more free to speak my mind which you all know has never been a problem, but now I feel I am among friends. Thanks for sharing this little adventure with the Schmidts...

So today was one of those days when I was waiting for Dwight Schrute to walk in at any time and make popcorn

Yesterday was pretty blah at work considering everyone just got back from the holiday, there were the usual conversations, "So how was your Christmas?" blah, blah, blah. If yesterday was blah, then today was just odd. At one point I felt that I had entered an alternate universe and we had become Dunder Mifflin . You see, Thursday is popcorn day on the Garden Level. I guess the popcorn is there to help boost morale and raise a little ching for various charities. However, since today really felt like Tuesday, not Thursday, people just weren't in the mood for popcorn and the world went a little askew. It all started when someone complained that the popcorn smell was bothering them. I don't know why this day was different than any other Thursday, but today it bothered them. Maybe they were on the holiday hangover edge and it just tipped. So management was on the prowl for a new home for the popcorn machine. That is when I was approached and asked if it would be ok if t...
