Purple violets and schoolteacher angst

So over the past 24 hours I have managed to watch two, yes two movies, thanks to the new laptop. All other TVs w/DVDs were occupied in our home which is usually the case. Dan was watching the Twins get trounced by Tampa Bay and the kids were in the basement playing DDR.


So, upstairs I went with Colin Firth and Edward Burns in tow.

Then She Found Me
The first movie I watched was Then She Found Me. I believe it went straight to DVD, can't remember it in the theater. It was written, directed, and starring Helen Hunt. Matthew Broderick, Bette Midler and of course Colin Firth are also in it.


***SYNOPSIS INCLUDING SPOILERS***
I didn't really like it. I was actually quite depressing. It is the tale of April a 39 year old, really wants kids teacher from NYC who marries this loser (Broderick) and he leaves her only to have her adoptive mother die the next day, then she discovers her birth mother who is a nutjob (Midler) TV personality only to fall in love with a neurotic father of one of her students (Firth) who decides to stay with her after she discovers she is pregnant with the loser's baby only to get dumped by the neurotic father after she hooks up with the loser. Then she loses the baby, the guy, turns away the nutjob mom and finally it all comes together in the end with little to no explanation.

So there, you don't have to watch it now if you don't want to.

Purple Violets
I liked this, but then again I love all Edward Burns movies even if they are bad. It was entertaining and starred Selma Blair (soon to be seen in Kath & Kim), Patrick Wilson from Little Children, Debra Messing, and of course Edward Burns.

This movie was the first movie to go direct to iTunes for distribution. Like I said, I really liked this.

Watch it if you have time, oh also listen to the music in it - really good.

Susan, I watched the 'then she found me movie 2x in 1 day [hotel, Sydney Australia, wind/rain]I had to watch it twice because I 'missed?' a number of things due to the poor script?! Not something I'll watch a 3rd time unless in a more remote country and am craving the sound of the english language.

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. Gainfully employed

I heard back last night from Cargill , I start back into the world of the gainfully employed as an independent contractor on October 8 th . My old client, who will now be my new client, Jeff wrote: I'm thrilled we get to work together again. This is the most important project our business unit has taken on in a lot of years so I feel a lot better knowing you're going to be part of it. OK now I'm nervous. Tightrope walking on a string

This has been one of "those" weeks where I often find myself scared to slow down and assess the situation because when I do I start to get this really tight feeling in my chest and I feel nauseous. Does anyone else get that? When life is going mach 10 with your hair on fire...and if you stop you just might fall right over from that string you are balancing everything on... I am going to bed.
