Population 128 + 1 visitor

So, I have been blogging quite a bit this weekend I think in anticipation for the fact I will be out of touch for a few days hanging in Carleton, NE. As you know me, I love little tidbits, so here are a few about Carleton.

  1. "Milo Capital of Nebraska"
  2. Carleton is a village in Thayer County.
  3. The community was named for Carleton Emory, son of a landowner.
  4. The latitude of Carleton is 40.300N. The longitude is -97.678W.
  5. It is in the Central Standard time zone.
  6. Elevation is 1,565 feet.
  7. The estimated population, in 2003, was 128.

Here is a silly little tidbit, I have "almost" been to Carleton before, back in '05 when my sister lived in godforsaken Garden City, KS, my mom, the kids and I took a little roadtrip through Nebraska looking for long passed relatives.

We found them close to Clatonia, NE in the middle of NOWHERE, but not so far from Carleton.

This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...

Tightrope walking on a string

This has been one of "those" weeks where I often find myself scared to slow down and assess the situation because when I do I start to get this really tight feeling in my chest and I feel nauseous. Does anyone else get that? When life is going mach 10 with your hair on fire...and if you stop you just might fall right over from that string you are balancing everything on... I am going to bed.
