Continuum part two

The concert last night was great, very laid back. AE liked it to a point, unfortunetly she was ready to go about half way through the concert. John Mayer played one of her favorites, "Waiting For the World to Change" third and from then on she lost interest. Thank goodness I bought her a bag of popcorn to keep her occupied. We will have to reassess if we are going to do another concert other than "High School Musical" or Hillary Duff any time soon.

I guess John Mayer and Jessica Simpson made an appearance at Bunker's. Mr. Mayer even got up and played with the band of the night, "Dr. Mambo's Combo". I think it would have been great if G.B. Leighton had been there, but they are usually Wednesday nights. I used to go down to see G.B. Leighton quite a bit with friends and co-workers before kids. We were at Bunker's once in the middle of a thunderstorm and all of the electricity went out, that isn't fun to be in the pitch dark with 200 intoxicated strangers. Whole nother story in itself.

There is this celebrity blog site PerezHilton.com which is quite tasteless, but has all of the latest celebrity news. They have taken an interest in the whole John/Jessica thing and left it up to readers to name the celebrity couple. The winner moniker for Mayer and Simpson: Fugs 'n Jugs. Just gotta laugh.

One thing I forgot to mention in the post is that I would not be surprised if John Mayer submitted the nickname for them. I wouldn't put it past him, he has a really twisted sense of humor.

Hiatus no more

I don't know what it is about January, but 'round about January 15th I go into a complete and utter funk - hence no blogging. It is as if I need to cocoon for a bit, metamorphosize, and re-enter the world in February. This year has been especially bad due to our chaotic schedules with the kids, plus I have been working almost 60 hours per week as it is budget time and we are determining what exactly does "hunkering down" look like. Don't worry, work is still fun, challenging might be a better word. I truly love my new job, actually it was a promotion - didn't officially know until this week, so that jump starts the old engine as well. So today was one of those days when I was waiting for Dwight Schrute to walk in at any time and make popcorn

Yesterday was pretty blah at work considering everyone just got back from the holiday, there were the usual conversations, "So how was your Christmas?" blah, blah, blah. If yesterday was blah, then today was just odd. At one point I felt that I had entered an alternate universe and we had become Dunder Mifflin . You see, Thursday is popcorn day on the Garden Level. I guess the popcorn is there to help boost morale and raise a little ching for various charities. However, since today really felt like Tuesday, not Thursday, people just weren't in the mood for popcorn and the world went a little askew. It all started when someone complained that the popcorn smell was bothering them. I don't know why this day was different than any other Thursday, but today it bothered them. Have you met my friend Jane?

I am a complete Jane Austen junkie, in fact I think that I need to maybe seek help. Shelly tells me I need help and we all know Shel tells it like it is, so it must be true. "Hello, my name is Susan and I love Jane. Jane Austen." I read "Pride and Prejudice", annually. Yes, every year I spend a weekend with Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Now that I think about it I may need to skip my little tradition this year because I have so many other never read books piled up and there is a due date looming from the library. The reason I share this closeted truth with you my friends is because there is a TV event starting this weekend on PBS. It is basically the 10 weeks of Jane, every Sunday night PBS will air a adaptation of Jane Austen's novels. Here is the schedule.
