Spic and span

Right now our house looks pretty good. Since we had the birthday party this weekend and family birthday party next weekend we got it all ship shape. Now the challenging part will be maintenance. Housekeeping is not my favorite task, nor something I have chosen to excel in.

Whenever the house looks like this I always say to myself, "I swear I am not ever going to let it become a mess again." I have yet to keep this promise, usually by day three it looks like a bomb has gone off and I lose all interest after JG sticks American cheese to the sliding glass door and the dog licks it off.

I don't think I really knew how much I loved my cleaning lady before I became the "full-time" cleaning lady. I have entertained the thought of hiring a new cleaning lady, but it would cut into the tennis budget, so I have yet to give in no matter how much I loathe scrubbing toilets.

DLS and I discussed the cleaning dilemma yesterday, he too acknowledged we all need to pick up and do our part. I was completely sold on his plan until he said:

"You know if you do two hours of cleaning each day it should be easy to keep up." I clarified and he meant cleaning (e.g. scrubbing bathrooms) not just housework (e.g. cooking, laundry).

Fourteen hours a week just cleaning my house? Hmmm, can't think of anything I'd rather do with my time.

I really hope this was his attempt at a joke.

We didn't do the spa thing. Too many girls we had 8, so they just ran amok. I am going to post about it. We had fun.

Is he HIGH? How long have you been married? Has he somehow mistaken you for June Cleaver?? Houses aren't meant to be clean, they're meant to be lived in. Keep up the good work.

I have a magnet on my fridge with that exact sentence. It is the truth, except last week really means last month, or year or I really can't remember but I know it was clean at some point and it will never be again...

Pleased as punch

We got our new vacuum cleaner last night. The home office was kind enough to pick one up along with our PF Chang's takeout. Take out Chinese on Valentine's is a tradition. Anyhoo, as you can see from the photo we basically sucked up an entire Pomeranian in our upstairs family room. I don't know if I should be embarrassed or pleased. I mean we just vacuumed on Monday with the Hoover and I knew it wasn't picking up everything, but this is ridiculous. The home office was so impressed with the Animal he went downstairs and vacuumed up another canine in the family room down there. I am still trying to figure out all of the gadgets on the machine. I seriously cannot figure out how to attach the stair cleaner. It is really funky how the thing is put together, efficient, but funky. I also for the life of me cannot figure out the directions. I dislike how all European companies, Dyson (UK), IKEA (Sweden) just show you pictures. I always thought I was a visual person, but I am b

Gainfully employed

I heard back last night from Cargill , I start back into the world of the gainfully employed as an independent contractor on October 8 th . My old client, who will now be my new client, Jeff wrote: I'm thrilled we get to work together again. This is the most important project our business unit has taken on in a lot of years so I feel a lot better knowing you're going to be part of it. OK now I'm nervous. Eeek - the most important project? Whoa, better bring the A game, but you know I am excited - scared - but am ready to go. I have so much to do before the 8 th , gotta get the list together to make the most of my kid free week (now that litte man is at daycare in the a.m.).
