Love, love (as in tennis)

My friend Jody and I played tennis together for the first time this season. We were regular doubles partners last year and after a frustrating season for both of us we decided we would rather continue our 7+ year friendship versus continuing as tennis partners. We felt we are very compatible in life, but not tennis. No sense losing a good friend over a bad lob.

So, Friday we tested our friendship once again. We subbed for the team we played with last year. I think both of us were a little tentative, but thought what the heck we just want to have fun. We did very well, we won 6-4, 6-0. We didn't have any harsh words or dirty looks between us, plus we actually laughed.

The funniest part about Friday is we played a woman both of us know through the local media, she is the former wife of a baseball Hall of Famer. She was amazingly nice and I am going to be playing doubles with her next Friday since her regular partner is out of town.

I love those days when you wake up with no particular direction and life takes you for a little ride with all kinds of surprises.

i keep thinking of "housewives of orange county" every time you talk about tennis...is it kind of like that?

Ha. I just posted a blog re: the RHoOC. That is so funny.

You know there have been some people who I have played against who I swear could have been on that show. I refuse to wear those skimpy little outfits they wear on that show. But some of the women I know really do. Some can pull it off and others not so much. :-)

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...

Tightrope walking on a string

This has been one of "those" weeks where I often find myself scared to slow down and assess the situation because when I do I start to get this really tight feeling in my chest and I feel nauseous. Does anyone else get that? When life is going mach 10 with your hair on fire...and if you stop you just might fall right over from that string you are balancing everything on... I am going to bed.
