Serve envy

Since I can't play I have been watching tennis on YouTube. Love Andy Roddick, love Andy Roddick's serve. Even though this isn't real, it is fun to watch and dream of a serve like this. So my question is this: Would you win the point?

I know zilch about tennis, Susan. I did, however meet Andre Agassi (and his adorable kids) at my local Starbucks last year. I've seen him there three times since, and also once at Pei Wei. Does that count for anything?

Oh, yeah!!! I had totally forgotten. Just think, I could have told him that as we waited for lattes..I'm sure he would have been impressed. Didn't we stick spaghetti to that poster?

We did stick spaghetti to it - I forgot about that. See if we all talk and put the pieces together we should be able to remember what it is we did in college.

I think you should tell him it was the one when he still had hair - albeit the mullet. Plus he wore those acid washed jean shorts with the bicycle shorts underneath it.

Aaaah, it's all coming back. It would be fun to put all of our memories together. Lord knows mine from that period are a tad blurry..

Hiatus no more

I don't know what it is about January, but 'round about January 15th I go into a complete and utter funk - hence no blogging. It is as if I need to cocoon for a bit, metamorphosize, and re-enter the world in February. This year has been especially bad due to our chaotic schedules with the kids, plus I have been working almost 60 hours per week as it is budget time and we are determining what exactly does "hunkering down" look like. Don't worry, work is still fun, challenging might be a better word. I truly love my new job, actually it was a promotion - didn't officially know until this week, so that jump starts the old engine as well. Have you met my friend Jane?

I am a complete Jane Austen junkie, in fact I think that I need to maybe seek help. Shelly tells me I need help and we all know Shel tells it like it is, so it must be true. "Hello, my name is Susan and I love Jane. Jane Austen." I read "Pride and Prejudice", annually. Yes, every year I spend a weekend with Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Now that I think about it I may need to skip my little tradition this year because I have so many other never read books piled up and there is a due date looming from the library. The reason I share this closeted truth with you my friends is because there is a TV event starting this weekend on PBS. It is basically the 10 weeks of Jane, every Sunday night PBS will air a adaptation of Jane Austen's novels. Here is the schedule. I am usually an open book...

however have made the decision to have The Schmidt House be invite only, you are the ones that I want to share our lives with - if there is someone that I have omitted by mistake, please let me know. Think that there are some family members that I do not have email addresses for, so will need to track those down. I have found that I have been a little blog "stuck" for the last few months knowing that there were a lot of people who read my site and I became a little self conscious about what I was writing as to not offend anyone - not like I go out of my way to offend, but after awhile you realize that there are some pretty sensitive folks out there. I know it takes all kinds for the world to go around, however I don't want to have to worry about it when I am here. So now I feel a little more free to speak my mind which you all know has never been a problem, but now I feel I am among friends. Thanks for sharing this little adventure with the Schmidts...
