The force is strong in this one

JG began his obsession with Star Wars at the age of three, one look at Yoda and the kid was hooked. It was actually quite embarrassing at first because he could not say Star Wars to save his life, it always came out as Star Whores. I have heard many of my friends say their children have had the same problem, however you feel like you are completely alone when you are standing in Toys R Us and your child spots Darth Vader garb and begins to yell "whores" at the top of his lungs. Eventually he added the Star to Whores so at least then people would kind of laugh instead of stand there in complete horror (no pun intended).

Today Star Wars came back into our lives full force thanks to my sister. She sent little man a "Force Field" button thing which plays the Imperial Death March (aka Darth Vader's theme) over and over again. If you would like here is a little snippet you can play in your own home so you can share in our joy of unending Darth.

My dad and I were talking today in between the "Force Field" symphony and got to laughing about little man and some of the silly Star Wars things he used to do.

One day JG was playing with Mia, our dog, when we first adopted her. JG was getting kind of rough with Mia and she was dishing it right back. I told him he needed to settle down otherwise the dog was going to knock him over.

He turned to me and said with complete seriousness, "Mommy it's ok she can't knock me down. I have my Jedi force field."

Just then Mia knocked little man to the ground. He was shocked and began to cry. I went over picked him up to make sure he was ok. I wiped his tears and told him he was going to be just fine.

He looked at me and said, "I'm ok mommy I not hurt. I just crying because my force field not work."

Six weeks

I am sidelined for at least six weeks. No tennis - no good. My bad wheel turned into immobile wheel today thanks to an air cast. Not the most attractive accessory. I had been trying to continue playing with the plantar fasciitis guess I figured it was going to be around for awhile so might as well deal with it. This plan actually worked out for the best because when I was playing on Thursday there was this loud pop in the bottom of my foot. Suddenly my heel felt better, so I thought, "Maybe it released all of the bad heel juju into the rest of my foot." Well, it was something like that. Evidently I tore a ligament in my foot which the doctor told me is really the best thing that could have happened. The reason why is it cured the plantar fasciitis. Plus the recovery time for the ligament thing is about six weeks versus potentially months or years with the other. So all in all I guess it was a good thing to tear a ligament. I am bummed because I can't do any exercise for t...

Have you met my friend Jane?

I am a complete Jane Austen junkie, in fact I think that I need to maybe seek help. Shelly tells me I need help and we all know Shel tells it like it is, so it must be true. "Hello, my name is Susan and I love Jane. Jane Austen." I read "Pride and Prejudice", annually. Yes, every year I spend a weekend with Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy. Now that I think about it I may need to skip my little tradition this year because I have so many other never read books piled up and there is a due date looming from the library. The reason I share this closeted truth with you my friends is because there is a TV event starting this weekend on PBS. It is basically the 10 weeks of Jane, every Sunday night PBS will air a adaptation of Jane Austen's novels. Here is the schedule. So, if you have never had the opportunity to get to know Jane, maybe it is time. Think about it, there is no new TV, it's cold out and you can learn new some new sayings for Monday. Nothing ...
